6th place finish for Stuart at the Belfast Half Marathon

This years’ Belfast half marathon started and finished in Ormeau Pk and in between took in the sights of Victoria Park, Belfast City Centre, Falls Road and Botanic.

Making a welcome reappearance in a North Down vest Stuart Donald mixed with the leaders and secured an excellent 6th place finish. Having worked alongside 5th place early on Stuart crossed the line in 1:13:21.

Ben Caughers made it two half marathons on consecutive Sundays after his exertions at the Great North Run last week and made it home in 26th place recording 1:18:44. Colin Walker was next in finishing just inside the top 100 with a time of 1:27:18, narrowly outside a PB. Next in was Keith Gilmore stopping the clock on 1:33:01, followed shortly afterwards by our first female, Fiona McQuillan in 1:33:24.

Valerie McDonough was our second female return, breaking the tape with 1:39:12 with Sarah Benton 3rd home recording 1:41:08. The club had a healthy turn out of 21 runners in the event and they enjoyed the best of the weather, recording personal bests and credible finishing positions within the close to 3000 field. Under Davie Seatons’ leadership ND had a role in marshalling the event with assistance from Tony Wall and John McGarvey.
