Ballynahinch and Armagh 10k’s

On Saturday the annual spring road race around Ballynahinch and surrounds attracted several of our club runners. With so many athletes in London the race attracted a healthy number of entries with it’s fair share of quality.

Simon Sexton was first to finish from the club in 25th place timed at 43:09. Frankie Rea, who had been with Simon throughout the race, lost out in the end to his club rival when he finished in 26th recording 43:17. This was enough to win Frankie 1st O60 on the day. Clare Kennedy was next in when she clocked 45:13, finishing in 37th spot and also claiming first O40, followed by Joanne Kelly in 85th, 52:12, Sarah Lochhead in 111th timed at 55:20 and Helen Sexton crossing the line in 58:13 which was 124th.

On Sunday the latest event in the Novosco series took place in Armagh. Three male yellow and blue vests made the trip to participate in the race which starts close to the planetarium and finishes in the Mall.

Paul Floyd completed the route in 39:19 placing 24th, Roy Sittlington pb’d with 46:58 to claim 77th and Pat O’Driscoll clocked 1:09:44 for 358th.
