Celtic Games 2016

Celtic Games 2016

The Celtic Games is a team competition involving U16 & U18 boys & girls selected from the winners at the recent Irish Age Groups. As a result of his sprint double, Aaron Sexton was part for the Irish team that took on Scotland, Wales & Wales Development teams at the university track in Swansea over the weekend.

Although he was the fastest in the field on paper, his build-up to the weekend was far from ideal, having been at an Irish rugby training camp last week and on holiday the previous week. He was pushed hard all the way in the U18 200m but dug deep and pulled away over the final 20m to take gold with a time of 22.21s (-1.9w). Unfortunately, as a result of his exploits, he was unable to take his place in the relay team due to a tight hamstring. The Irish team won six of the seven trophies on offer inc. the U18 boys team trophy.
