IMC Belfast Grand Prix

Despite the blustery conditions there were PB’s on show at the Mary Peters track on Saturday. With pacers ensuring fast times North Down had it’s fair share of runners taking advantage.

One such athlete who ran the perfect race was Sarah Lindsay who shaved over a second off her pb set earlier in the month when she won the ladies 1500M B race in 4:46:22. In the same race Rio Catney took 5 seconds off her previous with 5:11:72 and Jessica Scott ran a season’s best 5:27:33.

In the men’s 1500M B race Craig McMeechan had a fractional season’s best when he was pipped for 3rd place, timed at 4:08:60 and Francis Marsh recorded 4:27:65 in his first 1500M of the year.

The ladies 800M A race saw Rachel Gibson kick start her 800 season with 2:13:02. Of the three ND athletes in the male 800M E race all of them managed pb’s, the biggest change coming from Philip Baillie, who improved on his previous best which was set a little over 2 weeks ago by a massive twelve seconds, 2:15:29. Nick Irvine was 2nd in the race when he recorded 2:11:19 and John Ewing also improved with his 2:12:53.
