Storming the Castle 10k – Podium finish for Jamie

The second running of the Seapark AC organised Storming the Castle race took place on Sunday. Starting at the Ampitheatre and finishing at Carrickfergus castle the race meandered through the town and marina area before an out and back loop along the main road into Carrick.

Tracking the leaders from the start Jamie McMeechan enjoyed the summer sunshine to finish 3rd in a time just short of his pb, 36:32. David Massey was next in from the club in 20th in a pb time of 38:58 followed by the current leader in the Novosco 10K series, Terry Eakin with 40:13 and 34th position, a result which surely keeps Terry top of the leaderboard. David McMeechan was five places behind recording 40:49 and Frankie Rea completed in 42:55 giving him 65th.

Mitchell Brown managed the circuit in 43:30 and with it 72nd place while another Novosco regular, Roy Sittlington returned in 47:49 and 135th. A healthy North Down turnout was completed with:

Michael Stevenson 48:13 – 138th

Cliff McCausland 51:33 – 198th

Valerie Blayney 54:10 – 245th

Glenn Frazer 57:55 – 318th
