Although there were fewer events this week, there was no diminishment in the standard of running from North Down AC athletes whether on the track or over hilly and undulating courses in the Mournes, Rathlin Island and Dungannon.
Thomas Patterson raced on Tuesday at the Exeter British milers Club regional meet, setting a new 1500m PB of 3:57.11 placing 4th in the men’s A race.
On Saturday Clair Quigley maintained the excellent form she has shown during the Hill and Dale series as she took on the Spelga Skyline 11k course. The race started at Slievenamuck and followed a loop around the summits overlooking the Spelga reservoir before finishing close to Spelga Dam. Clair finished 3rd F45 in 1:54:42.

3 more North Down runners headed over to Rathlin Island on Saturday for the inaugural Lighthouse Run, a challenging, hilly 16 mile race starting and finishing in Church Bay and taking in the RSPB centre at the West Lighthouse, the East Lighthouse then Rue Point.
Lisa Tomalin was 29th overall and 1st F35 in 2:19:32 while Helen Byers was 2nd F45 and 1 place behind Lisa in 2:19:32. Kim McCourt rounded off an enjoyable day out for the NDAC trio in 2:50:55.
Sarah Gibson headed to Ardboe on the western side of Lough Neagh for the Great Rossa Half Marathon. The rolling Co Tyrone hills didn’t slow Sarah down as she finished 8th female and 1st F50 in 1:35:29.
