Cardiff Half Marathon 05/10/25
The Cardiff Half Marathon, one of the European super six half, draws a huge field every year. This year more than 24600 runners completed the course from Cardiff Castle past the Principality Stadium and over the barrage across Cardiff Bay with views of the Senedd and the Millennium Centre before a slight climb to loop Roath Park Lakes leads them back to the finish line by the civic buildings in the city centre.
3 North Down AC runners joined them with Jessica Craig completing the course in 1:14:14. only 15s inside her PB. She was the 14th female finisher and 2nd F35. Simon Boyle 1:28:10 was 6th M60 and Glynis Boyle 1:38:43 was 3rd F60.

Kyle McLellan wins the Groomsport 10k 05/10/25
The second local 10k in 2 weeks was superbly organised by our friends from ward Park Runners around Groomsport on Sunday afternoon. Runners started the race at the Groomsport football club before taking the old road to the Groomsport roundabout and the dual carriageway to the Springwell Road where they tackled another undulating loop past Portavoe Reservoir before returning through the village to the football pitches. Storm Amy may have blown over but the blustery conditions remained adding to the challenge for all the runners along the course.
North Down AC was well represented on the podium with Kyle McLellan winning the race by 70 seconds while Fiona McQuillan and Sarah Gibson were 2nd and 3rd females respectively.
Kyle led from the start to take the win in 33:44. Dean Varley was 5th in 36:50 while Sam Lloyd was 6th in 37:37, Chris Ritchie 38:02, David Massey 38:26 and Robert Duncan 38:30 took positions 8 to 10. Jonathan Gibson stepped in as a late addition to the race team as a 40 minute pacer running a perfectly executed 39:52. Fiona McQuillan was 23rd overall in 41:38 ahead of Patrick English 41:45 and Sarah Gibson (25th) in 41:49. Mitchell Brown was the club’s next finisher in 42:38 followed by Lisa Tomalin 43:44, Jeremy Tomalin 43:44, Philip Mulligan 44:15, Keith Gilmore 44:33 and Lindsay Doulton 44:55. Philip McDonough 45:15 led Ben O’Driscoll 45:42, Helen Byers 46:20, Allister Patton 46:22, Chris Couchman 46:41, Susan Black 48:13 and Zara Fulton 49:26. Paula Simpson 50:25 was followed by Richard Garrad 50:50, Noel Eager 50:51, Emma Hegarty 52:04, Mick Hall 52:56, Graham Massey 53:02, Angela Fawthrop 53:33, Sophie Hamilton 55:30, Stefan Butler 55:44, Christina Hannah 56:06, Julie Peston 56:27, Cara Jeffrey 57:53, Gabrielle Logan-Hermon 59:11 and Kevin Martin 59:52. David Balmer 1:00:14, Jill Eager 1:00:56, Nicole Bell 1:01:24, Marion Beattie 1:01:25, Christopher Ballentine 1:01:47 and Sinead Mooney 1:01:48 were followed over the line by Glenn Frazer 1:03:56 and Jennifer Brook 1:04:29. George Emerson 1:04: 36 shaved more than 4 minutes of last week’s 10k time while Pat O’Driscoll 1:07:41 rounded off a great day out for the NDAC athletes.
