Tollymore Trail Race, 13/12/25

The latest edition of Born 2 Run’s Run Forest Run trail race series was held in Tollymore Forest Park on Saturday. Fallen trees from Storm Bram on Tuesday and Wednesday had been cleared  for 5k and 10k runners to tackle the hills and trails in the foothills of the Mournes.

Regular B2R competitor Selina Patchett took on the 5k distance completing the course in 30:57, while Pat O’Driscoll who rarely misses a 10k, opted for extra climbs and finished 1st M75 in 1:35:20.

Santa Dash 5k, 14/12/25

Lisburn based running store, The Running Bubble hosted a 5k Santa Dash in the town’s Wallace Park on Sunday morning.  2 North Down AC runners joined the Santa hat wearing racers; Sophie Rankin was 11th overall and 2nd female in 19:36 with Lisa Tomalin not far behind in a speedy 21:00.

Schools XC

At a schools’ XC event held at Campbell College on Monday, Eric Pinkett (Sullivan Upper) was 5th in the mini (year 8) boys and Casper Pike (Sullivan Upper) was 16th. Robin Anderson (Bangor Grammar) missed the race as his school bus was late so he ended up running in the minor (year 9) boys but still finished a creditable 7th. Catherine McBrinn (Sullivan Upper) continued her fine form by winning the junior (year 10 ) girls.

Malaga Marathon & Half Marathon, 14/12/25

3 North Down AC runners swapped the cold, wet weather at home for Spanish sunshine at the Malaga Half Marathon and Marathon.

Dale Murray raced in the marathon finishing 144th overall in 2:44:30.

Francis Marsh celebrated promotion to a new age group by taking 1st place in the M60 category in 1:23:23 in the half marathon while Paula Simpson continued her comeback and marathon training with a 2:01:53 finish.
