World Junior Championships

Aaron Sexton finished his athletics season on a high as he produced another fast time while on Irish representative duty last week at the World Under-20 Championships in Tampere, Finland. He ran a new lifetime best and broke his own NI U20 record in the morning heats of the 200m when he clocked 21.06s for 4th place and automatic qualification to the semi-finals. Unfortunately he couldn’t quite match that performance later the same day but still recorded a very respectable 21.33s for 5th place in a world semi-final. The following day, he anchored the Irish relay team to 40.51s for 3rd place in their 4x100m semi-final, however, this wasn’t sufficient to progress to the final. Aaron now returns to full-time rugby training with the Ulster Academy squad and is expected to play some matches for the Ulster A team during the summer.
