NIMAA Cross Country

Dub playing fields hosted the first cross country event of the season on Saturday. With qualification to the Masters British & Irish XC International in Glasgow next month the entry list was full of talent.

There were only two entries from the club in the form of Jodi Smith and Mark Weir. Jodi went with the fast early start and continued to chase the leaders throughout to finish in 4th place overall and 3rd in her category to secure selection to represent Northern Ireland once again.

Mark made it two weekends racing in a row after recovering from injury, easy for someone as young as Mark, and made a good bash at the O40 category having dusted off his winter trainers. Having won a Northern Ireland vest in the past Mark knew what was required and felt the consequences of his lay off during the race. He nevertheless finished the race in a creditable position given the quality of athletes he was up against.

Good luck to Jodi at the Glasgow event next month.
