Women’s gold and men’s team silver at NI & Ulster Intermediate Cross Country Championships, Dundonald 29/01/24

The NI & Ulster Intermediate XC championships took place over energy sapping 2k loops at the Billy Neill centre on Sunday 28th January. Among many superb individual performances, including Rebekah Laffin taking  3rd place in the intermediate race the women’s team won the intermediate race and the mens’ team took 2nd place overall, North Down AC’s first team podiums in this race since 2011. 

North Down AC dominated the womens’ intermediate race with to win gold with Rebekah Laffin finishing 3rd and 5th to 8th positions going to Sarah Connolly, Caroline Coghlin, Claire Cody-Niebel and Agata Young.

Terry Eakin, John Adgey and Pat O’Driscoll raced in the M65+ race . 

In the Masters women’s race Roberta Dornan showed no fatigue from her trail race the day before to lead the women home followed by Clair Quigley, Sarah Gibson. Lindsay Doulton, Claire Scott and Kim McCourt.

The 6 scoring men in the men in the Intermediate men race were Ashley Dixon who finished in 6th place overall, James Graham, Daniel Dines, Dale Murray, Matthew McParland and Jamie McMeechan. Strong performances from Chris Moran, Ricky Jordan, David McKeague, Jonathan Gibson, Luke McDowell, Aaron McAuley, Alan McConnell, Mitchell Brown and Luke Dobson cemented North Down AC’s excellent results.
