The 7th race of Newcastle AC’s tough Hill & Dale series continued on Thursday 1st June. Millstone may not be one of the highest of the Mourne peaks but it’s certainly among the steepest, with most runners resorting to all fours to climb above the quarry before a technical descent into the forest and the finish line at Donard Park. Philip Baillie was the first North Down AC finisher on a warm evening in 52:31. Donald Smith was next in 1:00:59 followed by Claire Scott 1:04:13. John Adgey secured first place in the M75 category with a fine 1:07:36. Kim McCourt finished in 1:09:04 ahead of Trevor Patterson 1:11:36 and Ian McCreary 1:19:23.
