Lurig Challenge Run, Cushendall 12/08/23

After racing on Friday night, Clair Quigley was back in action at the Lurig Challenge Run on Saturday 12th August. North Down AC clubmate, Tom Agnew had perhaps wisely avoided the Connswater 5 mile race to save his legs for the tough 5.8k run/hike/scramble from Cushendall to the 330m summit of Lurig before the almost comedic descent which sees most runners sliding downhill on their bottoms at some stage. One runner described the race as the “Spanish thank you” because everyone gets a grassy ass! Tom was the first NDAC runner back to Cushendall. Tom was the first NDAC runner to finish in 42:44 with Clair sliding into the village 20 seconds later in 43:04 and claiming another prize as first F40.
