The first event in the Athletics Ireland 2023 Race Series, the Irish Runner 5k, incorporating the Irish 5k Championships took place in Phoenix Park on Saturday 20th May. 3 of North Down AC’s fastest females lined up alongside elite runners from all over the island, and further afield, to test themselves against the best of their peers. Sarah Gibson was first to finish in a new PB of 20:18, taking 3rd place in the F50 category. Valerie McDonough’s 20:55 saw her take 6th place in the same age group while Paula Simpson claimed 9th place in the F55 category in 24:21.
