NIMRA Slieve Gullion Race, 02/03/24

The NI Mountain Running Association race took place at Slieve Gullion on Saturday 2nd March. This race has been a fixture on the mountain running calendar since 1973 and in its current format starts on the north side of Gullion and follows paths to the north cairn before running along the ridge to the south cairn and returning the same way to the finish line. Although the distance is only approximately 4 miles, rough ground and @1000 feet of climbing test the runners to their limits. North Down AC had 2 runners out on the mountain; Mark Weir was the first one back in 39:29 and Trevor Paterson finished in 56:39.
