Donald Smith headed south to the beautiful grounds of Donadea Forest Park in Co Kildare to take part in the Irish 50k Championships on Saturday 10th February. The superbly organised event usually follows a 5k loop past the castle and around the lake however recent storm damage which felled a tree on the course and flooding from rain earlier in the week necessitated 14 shorter loops to complete the distance. Donald completed the 50k trail race in 5:15:47.
