Donald Smith, Clare Burren Marathon, 27/05/23

Posted

Donald Smith travelled to Ballyvaughan in the Burren in Co Clare on Saturday 27th May to run another marathon. Despite the heat, multi-terrain road and trail surface and endless hills, the beauty of the landscape coupled with views of the Aran Islands and the mountains of Connemara across Galway Bay made for what is surely one of the most scenic marathons anywhere on the island. Donald finished in 4:42:07.

The next day Donald met up with fellow North Down AC member, Gerry O’Boyle who has been running round the coast of Ireland in stages – see Gerry’s blog at  https://cliftoncoastalrun.blogspot.com/ for the story so far – to accompany the Galway man on the latest leg of his journey from  Spiddal to Salthill.
