Comber Cup

The third round of the cross country league took place on Sunday and for the second time the venue was the Billy Neill complex outside Comber.

Both the ladies and mens teams felt the effect of the Irish Senior cross country at Rosapenna as a handful of each of their strong teams were in Donegal.  Nevertheless the ladies put out 14 runners and will have maintained a strong position within the league.

Clair Quigley and Valerie McDonough traded places and eventually finished within four seconds of each other in 17th and 18th.   Lindsay Doulton wasn’t far behind in 20th, Julie Wilson 32nd and Zara Fulton in 45th

Ladies captain Clare Louise Scott covered the 3 laps in 49th place and Sarah Louise Connolly was 54th.  June McMinn returned in 58th spot and claimed an age group win as Glynis Boyle managed 2nd in her age group with 61st position overall.

Emma Fox ran well to finish in 70th and Jill Aicken returned in 74th, Cara Jeffrey 90th, Paula Simpson 93rd and Wendy Neely 106th

Pat O’Driscoll ran in the same race and was 5th in his age band.

Of the healthy turnout of 11 men, Dale Murray was first man home in 10th spot, Ashley Dixon followed in 15th, Ross Murray 24th and Chris Moran 25th.  Jonathon Gibson and Dennis Scott were within 3 seconds of each other as they finished in 35th and 37th.  Kevin Harkin looked in control as he claimed 47thplace and Aaron McAuley followed in 73rd with Philip Mulligan returning in 91st. Tom Agnew finished in 100th place and Kevin Mulligan made it home in 120th
