Dambusters Half Marathon

The final leg of the Pure Running Half Marathon series took place in the Mourne Mountains on Saturday around the scenic surroundings of the Silent Valley and Ben Crom dam.

 

Colin Walker was first home in 1:34:27 in 15th place followed by Catherine Roberts less than a minute later in 1:35:20 who also succeeded in claiming 3rd female place, only 21 seconds behind 2nd. Philip Mulligan was 37th in 1:41:46 with Scott Nelson finishing 2 places behind in 1:42:04 and John Ferguson crossing the line in 1:45:47, 49th. Alan Massey was next in 5 minutes later in 71st completing the course in 1:50:05 and then Michael Stevenson 1:56:35, giving him 104th.

Claire Garrad and Melanie Patton finished together 124th and 125th with times of 2:01:26 and 2:01:35 and Gavin McDonnell was 167th, 2:14:26.

In the 10K race Kathryn Blomley was our only runner finishing 128th in 56:45.

 

Several of our athletes completed the series, running 6 out of the 10 races on offer, and we had age category successes in the form of Eamonn O’Reilly 1st in the O45 band, Colin Walker 2nd O40, Clare Russell 3rd O40, Alan Massey 3rd O40 and Philip Mulligan 4th O50. Congratulations to all who persevered with the event taking in courses all around the country in varying weather conditions.
