Irish Juvenile Indoors

Due to some entry issues and sporting clashes, only two NDAC athletes made it to Athlone for the first weekend of the 2017 AAI Juvenile Indoor championships.

Ollie Wakefield struggled with his run-up in the U19 Boys long jump but his second round leap of 5.84m was sufficient to qualify for the last eight and earned an additional three jumps where he improved slightly with a fifth round effort of 5.88m to finish 5th.

Following a tentative heat, Holly Brannigan was drawn in lane 1 for the Girls’s U19 400m final, however, the early pace of the leaders ensured a fast final, with the field already strung out by the break and Holly lying in fourth at the bell.  Holly ran a strong and composed second lap moving up to third place down the home straight and earning a well deserved bronze medal with a new indoor PB and U20 club record of 60.03s
