Jordan at the Palace

[Not a valid template]Jordan Neil flew the flag at the Crystal Palace on Friday evening in the Norwich Union Grand Prix..  Jordan was 8th in the U20 mens 3000m development race in a new pb of 8:36.26 minutes.

On a warm but breezy late afternoon, the field coasted through a 71s first lap and to 2:55 at 1K. Jordan was tucked in on the inside in around 6th position in a tightly bunched field which stayed very much that way with 2K reached in 5:50. Nobody seemed willing to take it on early and Jordan was trapped (and tripped a few times) on the inside as the 1500m guys were sitting content. The pace quickened only slightly with 800m to go and it was only as the bell was approached did the front group of 15 or so really begin to break up. A full out last 400m was enough for 3:48 1500m performer David Forrester to take the race in 8:31.66, while Ahmed just passed Jordan in the closing stages to nick 7th – leaving Jordan 8th. English schools XC champion Mitch Goose was back in 11th.
