Though dry there was a very cold wind at Ballyclare for the Malcolm Cup cross country and James Budde and Francis Marsh did well to avoid the fast early pace in the 4 mile feature race. They made up ground in the last lap to finish 7th and 8th in 23.35 and 23.39 min. In the 3 mile mens over 60 race, David Seaton and Brian Smith had a battle with David taking 2nd and Brian 3rd while Norman Lellyett and Hugh Young were 4th and 5th, Hugh finishing 1st M65. Over the same 3 miles Sarah Benton and Jill Dowie were 12th and 13th in the ladies race, 2nd and 3rd F35. In the Horwill Cup 5 miles for vets 35 to 59, George Bell and John Quiery were 15th and 21st and were 2nd and 4th M50. Thomas Simpson was 12th in the 3 mile boys under 17 race.
