Meeting for Minnows No 3

The last and probably most successful of three meetings for Primary School age children took place at Bangor Sportsplex on Wednesday evening (10th June).  Events this time were 60m, 600m, long jump and shot (2.72Kg for P7’s  and P6 boys, 1Kg for P5’s and P6 girls).  Weather was ideal this time, with this reflected in some good performances.

In the P5 boys track events, Andrew Brown (North Down) and Conor Harvey (Loughview) competed hard at both distances with Andrew edging the 60m and Conor snatching the 600m. Conor also won the shot with Charlie Lawden  (North Down) taking the long jump. In the girls events Poppy Dann  (North Down) has made big improvements over the course of these meetings and won the 60m and shot while  Willowfield’s  Emmy Thornton was impressive at 600m. Niamh Fenlon (ND) won the long jump.

In P6 events Adam Kane (City of Lisburn) was outstanding with clear wins at 60m, 600m and long jump while Flynn Longstaff  (ND) won the shot.  Holly Mooney (ND) also had a track double at girls 60m and 600m). Emily Duff of Loughview won the long jump.

P7 produced a large and competitive entry. Callum Keys (City of Lisburn)  had a treble with wins at 60m, long jump and shot. North Down also had its big guns out with emphatic 600m wins from Amelia Tyler and Finlay Miller.  Megan Drummond won both 60m and long jump and Erin Kennedy won an all North Down shot competition.

Again thanks to all those , inside or outside the club, who officiated. Overall these meetings have been very successful.
