The fourth and final meeting in the North Down AC series took place at the Sportsplex on Tuesday evening and though it got rather chilly towards the end, we managed to avoid the earlier rain. Not as many many present as at the previous meetings or at last year’s post Olympic surge but still a healthy attendance. It may have been late in the season but there were still plenty of good performance both from visiting athletes and those from North Down. Sarah Connolly must have had the performance of the night with a massive pb in her opening long jump – 5.57m taking her to the top of the Northern Ireland Under 17 rankings and into the Top 12 UK Power of Ten list.
Again, a big thank you to all the athletes who have supported these meetings and to all those who officiated throughout the series. There seemed to be plenty of enthusiasm around and hopefully we’ll do it all again next year.
