Northern Ireland Masters Championships.

 

There was a good entry of veteran athletes at Mary Peters Track on Saturday from across all parts of Ireland for the Northern Ireland Masters Athletics Association Track & Field Championships. Roger Sexton won the M40 title in 11.85 sec, only being headed on the day in a Irish record 11.46 by Beechmount’s Paul McKee, who ten years ago won a bronze at 400m in the World Indoors. At 200m, they ran in the same heat, Paul McKee winning the M35 title in 23.11 and Roger the M40 one in 23.94.  Club Chairman Paddy McGrattan won the M45 6Kg hammer with 23.91m and was 1st overall in the 56lb Weight for Distance where he claims he has a Track Record of 5.11m.

Terry Eakin took the M60 title at 5000m in 18:52.84 min. Debbie Matchett had a busy day with F45 wins at 100m, 200m and 400m and a 2nd at 1500m.
