Older Guys Have their Day

The Northern Ireland Masters Track & Field Championships took place on Saturday at a blustery Mary Peters Track and the North Down men  took the opportunity to bring back some bling. Roger Sexton did the M45 sprint double winning  100m in 11.84 secs and 200m in 24.06 secs. At 400m, Michael Roberts took M60 silver in 68.57 sec and Nick Irvine was 3rd M35 at 800m in a pb of 2:14.82 min. In the 5000m, Mark Weir was 3rd M40 with 17:28.06 min and Terry Eakin won the M65’s in 19:27.26. In the field, Paul Curran M35 rolled back the years and impressed his watching sons by winning long jump with 5.62m and and taking a good 2nd at triple jump with 11.65m.
