Titanic 10K breaks records

[Not a valid template][Not a valid template]The 6th staging of the Titanic Quarter 10K road race took place on Saturday, starting and finishing at the Nomadic and covering the quarter and the Sydenham and Airport Roads. Held with immaculate timing a week after the centenary of the sinking, nearly 2000 runners took part in the 10K and more in associated events.

Of the North Down runners Glen Willis in 34:48 min and Dennis Scott in 34:52 led the way in 19th and 20th, both with big pbs. In the womens race Jessica Craig was 4th in 39:32, just missing the podium,.and Stephanie Hambling was 8th in 40:25. Both collected prizes when the dust had settled.

In the categories,  Terry Eakin was 1st over 60 with Michael Roberts 3rd. Glen was 2nd under 20 and Mark Weir 4th over 40.. Stephanie was 2nd over 40 behind the girl from the Republic who finished 2nd overall. While Jessica was 3rd open woman. Other pb’s included Nick Irvine, Caroline Riddell and Marie Devine.
