English U15 & U17 Championships

A small Northern Ireland team made the trip to Bedford last weekend (26/27 Aug) to take part in the England Athletics U15 & U17 championships.

Eve Dann continued her gold medal winning streak in the T35-T38 classification when she set yet another PB in the U17 200m to take gold in a time of 31.73s. Later in the day she completed the sprint double by also taking gold in the 100m, however, her exertions in the 200m took their toll on her time which was 15.74s.

Rachel McCann narrowly missed automatic qualification in Saturday’s heats of the U17 girls 300m when she ran 40.78s but still qualified as a fastest loser. In Sunday’s final she went out harder than she had in the heats and produced her second fastest ever time of 40.52s which earned her a very creditable 6th place in what was a very tight race.

Both girls will round off their very long and successful seasons at the 2017 School Games in Loughborough next weekend.
