On Wednesday, September 2nd, six club athletes went to Millisle for the Prison Service annual 6 mile race. Despite the nice running conditions, the entry was much lower than last year which must be partly due to the lack of advertising around the event. This didn’t stop our gang, however. Our front trio of Gerry Coy, Colin Walker and Jodi Smith set the pace and despite swapping positions amongst themselves, managed to keep out the opposition.
Finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, they won the overall team prize. Shortly behind them, Valerie McDonough came 2nd lady, with Sarah Benton winning F45. Not to be outshone, Pat O’Driscoll won his category (M60). Almost needing a trailer to bring home the spoils, the athletes lined up for team photos with happy smiles on their faces.
