Unfortunately Sarah Gibson, Paula Simpson and Terry Eakin didn’t qualify for 15% off their entry fee for the Great Ireland 10k in Dublin on Sunday 16th April, part of the Irish National 10k road race championships, as misdirection by marshals early in the race led to a reduction of 15% of the 10k route through Europe’s largest urban park. North Down AC’s trio of athletes have been in excellent form recently, chipping away at their 10k PBs and earning age category podiums in the process, however the error saw the race organisers declare results null and void. Both the male and female winners set times that smashed the existing 10k world records, however the runners had to settle for a disappointing training run instead.
