5K Championship in Derry: Ballynahinch 10K

[Not a valid template][Not a valid template]On Wednesday, the opening race in the Furey Insurances 5K series, all held in the Derry area attracted a good field and also incorporated the Northern Ireland 5K Championship.  Darren McKee was first club runner home in a pb of 17:50 min and other pbs went to Roberta Dornan and Ange Perrott. Roberta was 3rd woman and 2nd F35 and Ange 3rd F35. In addition to Roberta’s Championship bronze, there was gold in the form of the womens’ 5K Team Championship – Roberta, Debbie Matchett and Ange.

Individual winners were Annadales Paddy Hamilton,14:39 min and Teresa McGloin of Finn Valley with 17:06 min. North Down took the womens team honours,packing impressively to outrun Finn Valley and City of Derry. The mens’ team medallists were promoting club City of Derry Spartans, Letterkenny and Foyle Valley. The next outing in the Series will be on Wednesday 11th May out of the Lisnagelvin Leisure Centre in Derry’s Waterside
