Comber Cup Opens XC Season

[Not a valid template]North Down took the recent good road racing form (plus a couple of dozen athletes) into the cross country season which opened on Saturday in good conditions at the Billy Neill Soccer Centre with the Comber Cup meeting. The main event was the trial for the upcoming Vets International but there was also a variety of categories incorporated into the four races. Prize winners included 1st and 2nd M16 by Glen Willis and Sam McKibbin, 2nd M18 by Jordan Stokes, 1st F20 by Jessica Craig who led the womens team, 2nd F40 by Stephanie Hambling, 2nd FO by Roberta Dornan, 1st M60 and M65 by Terry Eakin and Fred Murdoch, 2nd M35 by Mark Weir and 1st M18 by Niall Robinson who was first in the open race. Plus lots of other good results as shown below.

These days the Comber Cup itself goes to the leading veterans team scoring two under 45 and two over. Under this format the winners were City of Derry with North Belfast 2nd and North Down 3rd with scorers Francis Marsh, Mark Weir, Gerry Coy and Terry Eakin.
