On Saturday, more than five hundred athletes turned out for the sixth and final race of the Born 2 Run ‘Run Forest Run’ Series, the Castlewellan 10k trail race in Castlewellan Country Park. Favouites Scottish athlete Lindsay Gordon and Julie Murphy (Lagan Valley) won the mens and womens races. For North Down, first in was Michael Roberts who was 2nd M60 in 48:35 min, followed by Stephen Mulvenna in 50:42 and first club lady Jane Stevenson in 52:28.. Pat O’Driscoll had the highest club category placing, winning the M65’s in 56:56 and taking the overall series prize.
