There were some great performances in the Marathon Relay from the North Down AC girls who ran two teams. In running order Team Blue – Jodi Smith, Ali Robinson, Roberta Dornan, Jill Aicken and Ange Perrott had a 3:00:28 finish and were 21st out of the 2000 or so teams. Team Yellow – Lynne Kerr, Gemma McAnirn, Roma McConville and Sarah Benton – came in 61st in 3:22.34 hrs. . Team Blue look sure of a team prize, probably 2nd all female team to a strong Abbey outfit.Jodi Smith got Team Blue off to a flying start over 6 miles to hand over to Ali Robinson who ran a good leg despite running the London Marathon last week. Roberta Dornan then took on a punishing uphill 7 mile section to finish strongly at Gideons Green . Jill Aicken kept the pace into Corporation Street for the final leg handover to Ange Perrott who brought the baton home with a sprint finish. Lynne Kerr got a great start for Team Yellow which was continued by Gemma McAnirn who flew over her 3 miles. She handed over to former Belfast Marathon winner Roma McConville who took to task the difficult 7 mile uphill leg down to Gideons Green. Sarah Benton ran a PB over 10 miles to cover both of the last legs and an eventual good time.
