The Northern Ireland and Ulster Age Group Championships continued on Sunday with events for U16 (b1995) and U17 (1994) athletes. At U17 Matthew Hamilton had pbs all round with silver at 100m in 11.70 sec, trumping it with gold at 200m in 23.90 sec. Louis Atkinson was 3rd in the U17 discus (1.50Kg) with 29.90m. The other North Down athletes were U16 with Beth Wilson winning at both shot (3.25 Kg) and discus (1 Kg) with 10.46m and 27.96m plus 6th in jjavelin (500g) with 20.49m. Other golds went to Matthew Stockton at javelin (600g) with 42.37m and to Glen Willis at 1500m with a pb of 4:20.36 min. Other medals went to Emma Tumblety, 3rd at 100m in 13.48 sec, and to Cydnie McCullough, 3rdat 250m hurdles in 40.08 sec. Cydnie was also 4th in the 200m final in 27.33 sec, Emma also qualifying for the final but leaving early. Sam McKibbin was 5th at 800m in 2:21.97 min, Mark Widdowson was 6th at 200m in 26.69 sec and 4th in long jump with 4.87m. and Michael McComb was 5th at 100m in 12.36 sec before hamstrung trouble in the long jump ended his day.
