You can”t fault Tom Reynolds for effort but his wretched luck with weather continued in Finland on Wednesday and Thursday. With only a week to go before the Commonwealth Games selection deadline, Tom followed his last option and secured entry to the Vaasky International event in Finland. In blustery showery conditions the first day started well with a pb at 100m of 11.16 secs (-0.2) and finished with a seasons best at 400m of 50.40 sec but Tom suffered from run-up problems in the jumps, posting 6.87m for long jump (+0.8) and 1.81m at high jump. Along with a 12.58m shot, hee was still handily placed at the end of the day but severe thunderstorms were to come on Thursday. After a good 110m hurdles in 14.81 sec (+1.2) and 34.98m for discus, he vaulted 4.00m off a short run-up, threw 45.06m for javelin and ran the 1500m in 4:52.30 min. His score of 6814 points gave him 7th, one place off the prize list.
