Tom Reynolds ended the Commonwealth Games decathlon in Delhi in 9th place with 7210 points, his second best score to his 7270 earlier this year. The event was won by Canadian Jamie Adjetey-Nelson with 8070 from Kiwi Brent Newdick on 7899 and Martin Brockman on 7712 the best of the UK competitors. Tom had a flying start with a 100m pb of 11.15 (-0.1) followed by long jump of 7.04m (+0.4) leaving him in 5th. He dropped to 9th after 12.79m at shot and to 11th after 1.81m at high jump. Despite a seasons best of 49.85 sec at 400m, 5th best in the competion, he ended Day 1 on 3762 points still in 11th. Day 2 opened with 15.00 sec (-0.4) and 35.91m for discus bringing him up to 10th. Tom had a good pole vault of 4.60m, a seasons best and 4th in the discipline to get to 9th and 48.67m at javeline took him to 8th. Despite finishing 6th in the 1500m with 4:43.77 min, he dropped a place to 9th with a 7210 total.
