The Race over the Glens, a tough off-road trail race from Glenariff Forest Park over 5.5 miles of very hilly terrain, was held on New Years Day. with 200 finishers. A shock to the system was a change in route with athletes dropping back into the valley at 3½ miles and finishing with a savage uphill mile. Roberta Dornan came 2nd female and 1st F35 while Stephanie Hambling was 6th female and 1st F40. Norman Lellyett was 1st M65 and Ken Hawtin1st M70.. Course specialist Jarlath Falls of Ballymena retained his title for his 6th win in 7 years with Karen Alexander Sperrin Harriers top lady.
