Northern Ireland U20 and U23 teams found it hard going at the Inter Regions and Home Countries Match in Derby with Anna Boyle’s 11.68 for 2nd in the 100m the best result. Of the North Down athletes involved in the U20 Match, Luke Reynolds was 5th at 110m hurdles in 15.54 sec, Jeremy Harper was 4th in shot and 3rd in discus with 12.61m and 42.21m (the official results are wrong with the names of Jeremy and Mark Thompson switched), Philip Browne was 6th in long jump with 6.61m and David Robb 4th in high jump with 1.90m. In the U23 Match, Michael Dyer was 7th at 800m in 1.58.27 and Michael McConkey 4th at javelin with 56.56m. Philip claims he had 3 jumps between 7.00 and 7.50m just over the board, admittedly slightly wind-assisted but had to settle at the end for a safe pb of 6.61m
