Athletics scored highly on Friday at the annual North Down Sports Awards dinner, organised by the North Down Sports Advisory Committee at the Marine Court Hotel. Awards for the year 2010 went to the track and field members of the Northern Ireland team who featured at the Delhi Commonwealth Games. The Sports Personality of the Year award went to decathlete Tom Reynolds with sprinter Amy Foster picking up an Award of Merit in the same category. The Young Person of the Year (under 18) was Sullivan schoolgirl and Lagan Valley member Katie Kirk.
Awards were presented by North Down Mayor Councillor John Montgomery and guest of honour Justin Fitzpatrick, Director of Rugby Dungannon RFC.
