North Down had 30 athletes competing at the annual Ulster Schools Cross Country at Mallusk playing fields.
The Primary Schools races which were the climax of the Flahavans porridge series included Hollie Massey finishing just ahead of Ellie Gordon in the girls race. The boys saw Nathan Semple, Barney Miller and Ewan Tyler all competing. A great introduction to cross country running for these youngsters.

In the Mini girls Amelia Tyler finished a strong 3rd after she fought off stiff opposition in the last 400M. Jakob Swann led from the start in the Minor Boys race and looked a winner all the way only to be outpaced on the run in to finish 2nd. Unfortunate for Jakob who may have felt the effects of running on his own for so long. Great result nevertheless. In the final race of the day, Senior Boys, Craig McMeechan was in the leading pack for the duration of the race. This pack reduced from 5, to 3 then finally Craig and Friends School’s James Edgar, with the Lisburn student taking the honours by two seconds. A well deserved 3 medals for our athletes.
Great to see 7 of our runners make it to the Irish Schools Cross Country in Sligo on 5th March. Well done and good luck.
