Francis Marsh usually finds a run on his visits to London and last weekend was no exception. Francis, in his alter ego as a Herne Hill Harrier, turned out in the Track and Field Final of the Southern Counties Vets Association. His 2nd place in 9:27.6 min in the M50-49 3000m helped Herne Hill to a one point win over Blackheath and Bromley, winners of the last few years. After the 3000m, Francis had 25 min to prepare for the 4 x 400m relay in which they were 4th. (Pictureshows relay handover).
The SVAC League has an interesting format with separate sections for 35-49, 50-59 and 60+ categories in the events. Athletes are allowed to compete one level down
