Another big field showed for the Bangor 10K Classic on a beautiful Autumn day. Joe McAlister of St Malachy’s who had a hat trick of wins a year or so ago, returned and was a clear winner in 31:25 min from Paul Rowan in 32:46 and Alan McCullough in 32:47. North Down’s James Budde was 4th in 34:21. An exciting womens race was won by Kerry Harty in 35:14 from Gladys Ganiel –O’Neill in 35:32 and our own Julie Balmer in a pb of 37:57. Julie led Roberta Dornan and Jessica Craig to a womens’ team victory over North Belfast while North Belfast beat St Malachy’s by 2 points in the mens teams. Debbie Matchett and Ali Robinson took category prizes at 45 plus and 35 plus as did Douglas Grant at 40 plus and Fred Murdoch at 65 plus.
