[Not a valid template][Not a valid template]There were several races available locally on Boxing Day, mostly low key, but the recognised main event was the Greencastle 5 miles. Francis Marsh was the sole North Down representative, finishing 10th out of a tough field in 27:59min. Francis was 1st in the M45 category and was in fact the leading veteran. Most club runners waited until the following day and went for the Castlewellan Christmas Cracker, a challenging 11 mile race, run in pairs over mixed terrain – very mixed terrain. A record number of close to 200 pairs ran this year, among them 8 from North Down. James Budde and Dennis Scott were the first club pair in 11th overall in 69:06 min. There were two category winners, categories in this race based on gender and combined age. Les Wilkinson and Doug Ruddick were first men 110 – 119 and Gary Swenarton and Ange Perrott first mixed 90 – 99.
