Murphy excels at the Belfast International Meet

There was a host of talent on show at the Mary Peter’s track on Wednesday night for the Athletics NI organised international meet. There was a mixture of international races and domestic races for our athletes to choose from.

Murphy Miller ran the perfect race to clock a 4 second pb when she won the senior womens 800M. After running 2:18 a couple of weeks back at the Age groups Murphy improved on that time with 2:14:63 and a very rewarding win given the mature manner in which she ran the race.

In the 110M hurdles Ben Reynolds once again recorded a commonwealth games standard time when he timed at 13:69. In the U16 girls 100M Katie Kimber came 2nd as she came within one hundredth of a second of her pb on 12:84 and Megan Drummond significantly improved on her pb as she finished 3rd recording 13:18.

The mens 3000M included Craig McMeechan and Francis Marsh. Craig was in the leading group throughout the race and provided more evidence of his return to form with a 3rd place finish behind quality opposition in a time of 8:45:60. Francis found himself isolated from the group and made a good job of clocking 9:24:65 when largely on his own.
