Our most impressive results at Delamont Park were in the Intermediate Girls Race with Jessica Craig first, Lauren Scott second, Nicola Simpson third and Katie Hewitt fifth, none part of a team. Alison Lavery unfortunately dropped out feeling sick spoiling a haul of five in the first six. With few exceptions, the top Cross Country runners coasted through the Schools Districts and will compete in the Ulster Schools at Mallusk on 16th March.
There was a medal for Kerry Iveston who ran the Senior Race from the front but settled for third when overhauled by teammate Emma Ferguson and Sarah Hollywood at the end. In the Junior Race, Hannah Lewis finished well for sixth and Kalina Stitt was twelth and had a team win with Strathearn
Two Silvers for the boys with Jordan Neil losing out to Stephen Scullion in the Intermediates and Josh Lowry with a fast finish in the Minors. Thomas Simpson had a near miss in the Intermediates with fourteenth, just short of qualifying. The Patterson twins returned to form with eighth and ninth in the Juniors and Karl Brown was sixteenth. It was a good day for Bangor Grammar with teams qualifying in all four age groups although Sullivan had probably the best all round performance.
A day earlier in Ormeau Park, Jamie Stewart was our only athlete in the South Antrim “B” District event. Still far from right, he was happy to come away with the Bronze Medal
