Amy Foster carried on where she left last season by taking the Scottish Under 17 200m indoor title at the Kelvin Hall today. She also got 3rd in the 60m. Richard Lockhart, not known as a shot putter, also got the bronze in the Under 20 Shot.
In the 60m, Amy won her heat in 7.91 and semi final in 7.89. In the final she was 3rd in a blanket finish in 7.91 again. In the 200m, she won her heat in 26.25, her semi final in 25.79 and the final in another blanket finish in 25.81.
Kim Shaw was also in the 200m and was 2nd in her heat in 27.02. In the same semi final as Amy, she was 3rd in 27.29, not qualifying for the final. She narrowly missed a medal in the Triple Jump, taking 5th with 10.18. Katie Hewitt also went out at the semi final stage in the 60m hurdles, finishing 3rd in 10.03. She was way off the board in the Long Jump and was 16th with 4.27m. Despite the organisers making the obvious mistake of confusing North Down AC with Carrick-on-Suir AC, Kerry Iveston was 4th in the semi final of the Under 20 400m in 65.78.
In the Under 20 Mens’ events, Richard Lockhart and Scott McCauley were our representatives. Scott also struggled a bit on the board and was 7th in the Triple Jump and 13th in the Long Jump with 12.44m and 5.73m. With no obvious events for him indoors, Richard did well to take the Shot Putt bronze medal with 12.44m. He probably has less of a future at 60m where he was 4th in his heat with 8.04.
