Only in Ireland

The Odyssey was supposed to have banished it forever but the most bizarre meeting of the year resurfaced over the weekend at Antrim Stadium. In enormous winds and icy cold, the UCAAI Winter Championships took place to find the Ulster Indoor Champions. The first four in each event qualify for the Irish Junior Indoors at Nenagh over two weekends in March. With times totally meaningless, the few North Down ahletes taking part all qualified comfortably.

Amy Foster won U18 60m and 200m, Kim Shaw won U18 200m, Kathryn Colwell was 3rd at U15 shot. Competing as Regent House, Erin Mullan won U18 girls 60m hurdles and was 2nd to Amy Foster at 200m, Scott McCauley won U18 boys 60m hurdles and Ally Gordon was 2nd at U13 shot.
