At the Northern Ireland Civil Service Championships, the North Down girls celebrated their call up for next weeks Reebok Series Final with a clean sweep of the medals in their age group. Jessica Craig 1st, Lauren Scott 2nd and Nicola Simpson 3rd, all ran tremendous races. Thomas Simpson was 2nd in the U15 boys, again having a great run.
The course was slightly different with a new hill included taking the runners up through the trees and not contouring round it by the Play Park.
The main race saw Norman Lellyett win the Vet60 category with Tony Wall, David Seaton and Ian Atkinson also running and Lynne Wilson the only female from the club. Again the course included the new hill so times were down on last year. But, as Ian reports, the sun was shining and the ground firm so no disappointments.
Deane Fisher of Willowfield retained his title ahead of David Morewood of North Belfast with Gregory Walsh from Ballymena Runners in third with Richard Rodgers from Newcastle in fifth overall top veteran.
