Apart from a winning vault by Zoe Brown and second at 800m by Gareth Hill, Northern Irish pride was in the Medley Relays of 800m, 600m 400m and 200m and John Saulters and Amy Foster were involved in these. John did the 400m in the mens event along with Nigel Carlisle, Raymond Adams and Kenny Elliott and they won in 4.30.47. Amy did the 200m along with Lyndsey Monteith, Christine Long and Michelle Rodgers and they were third in 5.15.68. Amy and John could be happy with their first major senior competition with Amy fourth in the 200m in 25.49, finishing second in her heat. John was sixth in the 200m in 23.31.
Brendan McConville jumped a disappointing 1.91m to finish fourth in the High Jump but would have had to jump way over his pb to improve on that position.
